If you are a software developer, how often have you needed to update your product(s), how frustrating is it making a new install for your application when all you need to do is distribute a single file? Is it not irritating when you have to set up complex instructions for end users to follow to download a patch and install on one or more client machines.

Well those days are gone. Managing software updates and patches as never been this easy. With NETUpdate automatic update software you can add a professional web based updating system to your software within a few minutes, and once you have the initial client side appearance sorted it takes just seconds to setup a new update. NETUpdate automatic update software was designed from looking around the net looking for an update system, and not finding any that looked good and did what I needed it to do.

NETUpdate was designed to be customizable and flexible, easy to use, and easy to integrate with your applications. With this technology, you can spend more time developing and marketing your product, and less time managing its distribution, it also minimizes the time it takes to add automated update capabilities to your software. As a separate executable or ActiveX, the NETUpdate automatic update software system is easy to integrate into your software. Simply customize the client executable with the easy-to-use Client Configuration section within the Administration Utility and include it with your application.

NETUpdate consists of three separate components: a client-side executable that runs on the user's system, a server-side data file located somewhere else (typically on a web site on the internet) and an ActiveX com object. The NETUpdate client and ActiveX reads from a configuration file the location where the server file can be found. This configuration file you distribute with your application and should be included in your update. At runtime, the client executable/ActiveX component downloads the server file from this location, and then uses the information in the server file to guide the rest of the update process. Unlike services that lock you into using their servers, with NETUpdate automatic update software you decide where your update files are hosted. You decide on the level of redundancy. You're in full control of your update files, patches and web servers.

Using the Administration utility you can customize the appearance of the client, allowing you to tailor many of its appearance to suit your application, you can also select which files are to be part of the NETUpdate automatic update software facility and publish them to your server.

All users have to do is start up the client to check for any updates and download them to their computer and then NETUpdate will install them automatically.

Inbuilt to NETUpdate is the ability to update itself. If you choose to you can allow NETUpdate to check for an update of itself first, if required, it will then restart and check for the applications updates. This allows you to store the latest NETUpdate automatic web update client executable on your web server and then update automatically for your customers.
